Loveable actor couple, Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield, who met on the set of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, were having lunch in a Manhattan restaurant yesterday afternoon when they noticed a crowd of paparazzi looking and taking pictures of them through the window. The couple decided that they would send a message to the photographers in a direct, but classy way: hand-written notes!
Emma walked out of the restaurant holding a card that read: “Good morning! We were eating and saw a group of guys with cameras outside. And so we thought, let’s try this again. We don’t need the attention. But these wonderful organizations do:” – with an arrow pointing to Andrew’s card.
Andrew ‘s card continued with website links to a few wonderful non-profit organizations – including Autism Speaks (www.autismspeaks.org) – and a message at the bottom reading “Here’s the stuff that matters. Have a great day!” Autism Speaks, an international autism science and advocacy group, funds research into autism treatment and raising awareness of autism spectrum disorders.
Many fans have spoken out in admiration of these two for taking this opportunity to promote some of their favorite charities, instead of becoming irritated and enraged, like many other famous people have been known to do. The Spiderman co-stars have tried this tactic once before, after being photographed at another spot in New York. Maybe one of these days – the paparazzi will catch on and make better use of their time. Just maybe…
