Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is important in the treatment of autism. From a behavior-analytic perspective, autism is considered a syndrome of behavioral excesses and deficits. Every behavioral aspect of autism can be addressed using scientifically validated behavioral interventions.
Over 25 years of research suggest that early behavioral intervention is essential for the best prognosis. In fact, it is the only treatment method recommended by the U.S. Surgeon General:
“Forty years of research demonstrated the efficacy of applied behavioral methods in reducing inappropriate behavior and in increasing communication, learning, and appropriate social behavior.”
Our autism treatment program focuses on the development of language and other foundational skills. Our language training program is based on Skinner’s analysis of verbal behavior, which allows us to target all aspects of language.
